MAY 21 | Introduction to Watercolors: Night Skies with Annika Sheck

Join local artist Annika Sheck, for an introduction to watercolor painting for adults of all skill levels. Through step-by-step instruction, participants will create two beautiful 5x7-inch night sky paintings: a twilight scene featuring soft pink and purple tones, and a captivating aurora landscape.  

In this comprehensive class, you will learn fundamental watercolor techniques including wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, gradient blending, silhouettes, and splatter effects. Annika will provide clear, accessible instruction throughout the session, ensuring each participant feels confident and supported in their creative process. You will be surprised by what you can accomplish in just one evening.    

Class registration fees include Whatcom Museum admission and all materials needed to complete two 5x7-inch watercolor paintings.

About the Instructor 
Annika Sheck is a self-taught watercolor artist, wife, and a mother of two. When she's not spending time with her family and friends, she’s in her studio, experimenting with new techniques and creating art. After becoming a mother, Annika felt like she had lost a part of herself in the process of caring for her young children, and it was through art that she found her way back. Watercolor, in particular, has helped her embrace imperfection and find peace amidst the chaos of daily life. Sharing the joy of creation and teaching others has become a true passion. Originally from Germany, Annika draws inspiration from the natural beauty of her new hometown in Bellingham, which is reflected in her work.
